National Vocational Qualifications
Achieving an NVQ demonstrates that you are a competent manager, and that you possess transferable and flexible skills and knowledge. An NVQ Programme is a "can do" qualification: that is, the programme of study comprises lists of activities that a competent manager can do, and can prove that they can do. The focus is therefore on performance in the workplace - a 'competency'-based approach. Achieving your NVQ is based on the preparation and submission of evidence that you can and do regularly fulfill certain criteria according to nationally agreed standards. You will improve in your own work role as you learn. NVQ Programmes are MODULAR so that you may enrol for the full qualification, or simply choose specific units that are relevant to you. For successful completion of any one unit, you will be awarded an NVQ Unit Certificate by the Institute of Management Foundation. The NVQ basics:All NVQ's are based on the same structure:
Elements are split up further into performance criteria, but we offer considerable detailed
guidance on all of the above, to help you understand what you will be asked to do in order to achieve your NVQ.
